Manitowoc County Genealogical Society Meeting & Program: Tues., Nov. 9th at 6:00pm on Zoom.  Topic:  “Can’t Find Them on a Passenger List”, with Mary Jane Herber, from the Brown County Central Library Genealogy Department, Green Bay, WI

Before the computerization of passenger lists genealogy researchers would spend hours, weeks and sometimes months looking through reels of microfilm to find their relatives because many of the lists were not indexed. In 2021 many genealogists only think of the computerized databases to search for their immigrant relative. However, in the pre-computerized years many books were providing lists of different groups who had migrated to the United States.

The Brown County Library has books that include many different groups of people who came to America.  Some of the nationalities include; Belgian, Czech, Irish, Russian Jews, Germans and Dutch.  Books that may be of help which are in the collection of the Brown County Library – Local History & Genealogy Collection will be featured.

Hope to see you on November 9th. If interested in attending contact us at MCGS1745@live.com and we will send you the link.
