April Manitowoc County Genealogical Society Meeting

The Manitowoc County Genealogical Society will meet at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2019 in the Balkansky Room at Manitowoc Public Library, 707 Quay St., Manitowoc, WI.  The program will be  “It’s All Online!  Or Is It!” with Lori Bessler, genealogy and local history specialist, Wisconsin Historical Society’s Library, Archives and Museum Collections division.  Learn about valuable web sites, making the most of your online searches, and how to organize your online research.  If you’re interested in researching your family this is a program not to miss.  The public is welcome to attend.

We also offer genealogy help on Tuesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Manitowoc History area of the Manitowoc Public Library.

Program:   Federal Government Publications for Genealogical Research, with Anne Kasuboski, MLIS.

The National Archives has a wealth of information for the genealogist, but another not so well known source of information are Federal Depository Libraries. Federal Depository Libraries store information from the U.S. Government Printing Office; the largest publisher in the world.  Let’s find out where these libraries are located, and what they offer to the family history researcher.  Anne Kasuboski, MLIS, retired Distance Education & Reference Librarian, UW-Green Bay, of Fox River Heritage Research, whose research specialty is government publications, will present a very informative program on Federal Government Publications for Genealogical Research.  The public is welcome.
